On Thursday, August 11th, 2011 the Queens Alumni Chapter hosted its "10th Annual Salute to Our Achievers" Reception at the Copacabana, 268 West 47th Street, NYC, with Brother Hakeem Jeffries (2001 Salute awardee) as the emcee. The Queens Alumni Chapter has been hosting the “Salute to Our Achievers” Reception since 2001. This event recognizes Brothers for their stellar achievements in their respective fields of human endeavor and all the while exemplifying the Bond of brotherhood. The event also serves as a reclamation event as Brothers from all over come out to celebrate the achievements of the Brothers being recognized.
The Salute has grown to become one of Queens Alumni's signature and highly anticipated events as approximately 300 people were in attendance. This year, we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The Salute, which also coincides with our Centennial Celebration. The 2011 Salute Honorees were:
