2011 Sickle Walk

On Sunday September 25th the Brothers of Queens Alumni took part in a Sickle Walk to raise awareness. The walk was held in Jamaica , Queens starting at York College and ending at Roy Wilkins park. There were a total of 7 brothers in attendance . The walk's purpose was for education and awareness of Sickle Cell Anemia. Sickle cell is a prominent disease in the African American community ,1 out of every 500 people versus the rest of the USA population which is 1 out of every 5,000. Staying with our QA for Queens theme and being more visual in the Community we service , this was overall a  good experience for the chapter, and our attendance was greatly appreciated. We were the only fraternity or sorority at this event.
